Lateral Thigh Trainer

Admittedly, I shouldn't be up at 5:00 am watching TV. But I was. So sue me.

I saw this Infomercial for the Lateral Thigh Trainer. I am an infomercial junkie so I decided to watch for a bit. They were doing the usual routine of showing how many inches you could lose with those before and after pictures, the ones that don't show faces but only similar body parts in the same swimsuit thing. Then I thought, there must be a legion of people out there who purposely don't exercise to maintain their living. "Yes I was the butt picture in the Lateral Thigh Trainer infomercial and the protruding belly in the Atkin's Diet Commercial". Almost as bad as the karaoke actors resume..."I was the man portraying his wife leaving him in Karaoke Video's #83 The Best of Lonesome Country."

Strange little thoughts that pop up in the morning hours.

Weekend of Frivolity

I'm definitely not as young as I was, not that I was every able to pull all nighters of frivolity and fun, but this weekend really drained me. For starters...

Friday: Pediatric Retreat. Lectures in the AM, then Boat Ride (yes I felt like puking), then was supposed to go bowling. But ended up going to eat Chinese food with my friends Kelly and Lum, then went to meet up with the peds people for some bowling, but never got to bowl cause BOWL-A-DROME SUCKS! Then went to watch Matchstick men, but I was so exhausted I fell asleep. I did wake up for certain portions of the movie...hehehee...so I have sort of an idea of what was going on. I guess I have to watch it again.

Saturday: I didn't wake up until 11AM. For people who know me that will sound really odd. I was supposed to have other friends over and the did come, but I had to hold them at bay for a half hour. I woke myself up and we played Soul Caliber II. One of my friends is leaving the rock for the sunny pastures of Oregon. Then we went to Jennifer's place and hung out (playing more Soul Caliber II, that game is addicting I tell you). I fell asleep while they played a 4 player XBox Game. Then we went out for dinner at Zippys. Came back to my place and had an adventure with the DVD player. Basically my Lilo and Stitch is a casualty. DVD player appeared to be broken, but in retrospect I think I had the cables wrong, but I was so tired my brain wasn't functioning. So my friend gave everyone a ride home while I fell into a sleepless slumber.

Sunday: Woke up. Drove to Circuit City to exchange the DVD player. Got there at 9:15 AM and to my chagrin found out that it didn't open until 10AM. So I grabbed myself my crack fix (Jamba Juice) and read the Sunday Paper. The Bus Strike is becoming idiotic. The union should find a better representative than Kanahele, he makes them appear so greedy in public, not a very good public relations person. I exchanged my DVD player. I went home and just chilled the rest of the afternoon. Fell asleep. Went to Tower where I finally purchased my Law and Order Season One and Will and Grace Season One. Twenty two hours of Law and Order on DVD, so I can cue them up when I want. No more arranging eating times around the TV :-). My friend Jennifer told me that I should just use my VHS. I should ya? Anyways, that was my weekend folkses. Back to the daily grind.

Sexy Water

I was watching TV today and I saw an ad for Dasani Water. Two people were making out in the elevator whilst drinking Dasani Water. Even water is resorting to "sexifying". What does that say about the American culture. Of course, I was laughing while I was watching. Just a brief blurb of some innaneness of today.

Entranced By New Toys

It's official, I'm a bad person. I made a really really big purchase lately, I bought a new HDTV and a stereo system. Then, of course, I couldn't waste such new equipment so I purchased Soul Caliber II, Xenosaga, and Final Fantasy X. And I also bought some DVDs, notably My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon from MattNJenn.com. They were very cheap! Woo-hoo!

Darrett had fun tonight. He got together with Jennifer, Goddess of Chocolate, Valerie, and Chad and had a Soul Caliber II session. God, that game is totally addicting. And Valerie and Jennifer have been playing it way longer, so I was beaten royally by Jennifer with her Talim, the wind priestess character. I have to learn to be better...Kilik and Taki. Those are my characters of choice. I bought the strategy guide...and I will learn and WIN and WHIP JENNIFER! *grin*

But I've decided that my new best friend will be the TV. I've even named her Tanya (Golden Girls reference people).

Other than that, life proceeds at it's normal pace. I'm still working hard, but less hours as I'm in Adolescent Medicine right now. I get to talk with interesting teenagers and try and remember what it was like when I was a teenager. We're supposed to ask the HEADSS exam (Home, Education/Employment, Activities, Drugs, Sex, Suicide/Safety). Sometimes it's difficult asking things like...are you sexually active? do you use condoms? do you have sex with men, women, or both? do you do any drugs like batu, crack, ectasy, special K, MJ? How is your mood? do you feel like hurting yourself or others? But you just have to suck it up and ask because they may not volunteer such information. Teenagers are a fascinating population...and you can really learn alot from them.

That's it for now. I have to attend the blisters on my hands from playing Soul Caliber II. *ends transmission*
